Youth

Youth suicide rates have been rising steeply, with a 77% rise in suicides between boys aged 15 to 19 in 2017. This rise is even greater in our indigenous communities, with suicide the second biggest killer of this group of men.

This alone should be considered a national tragedy.

BTG has identified youth mental health as an area of growing concern, for which local services are  limited.

We are currently applying for grants and seeking funding, donations or in kind services to help us expand into this field.

In particular, we'd like to see art and lifestyle programs developed and a youth-specific community hub opened.
